On the evening of July 16th 2016, John passed away peacefully from complications of a heart attack at St. Vincent’s in Birmingham. John was 61 years old. John Swaney was born on the 26th of September 1954 in Chillicothe, Ohio to parents Glenn and Joyce Swaney. He was the second child and had an older sister, Karen Wehn. John attended Chillicothe high school and later attended the University of Tennessee and graduated with a degree in accounting. He worked for CMC Metal Company as an accountant until he was able to retire. John enjoyed spending time with family, playing the stock market, watching Tennessee football, and watching his daughter play softball. John was always able to cheer anyone up with his witty one-liners. As a result of his caring personality and positive outlook, he was loved by many. He was the perfect father and husband and displayed that in his actions and words every day. He was so proud of his youngest daughter’s softball career with winning two State softball tournaments and being offered a scholarship at Samford University, and having his eldest daughter accepted into Nursing School at the University of Alabama. John Swaney is survived by his wife, Teresa Swaney; daughters, Baleigh and Abby Swaney; sister, Karen Wehn; and parents Glenn and Joyce Swaney.
