John K. McDonald age 91 of Midland died at his residence on Sunday, June 22, 2014. The son of the late Grover C. and Reah (Doil) McDonald was born on May 25, 1923 in Mt. Haley Township where he was raised and educated.
John served with the Army during WWII and received the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars. On February 15, 1947 he married the former Helen Vadovich and she survives him. John worked for the Dow Chemical Co retiring in 1981 after 41 years of service. He was a member of St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church and the American Legion Post #165. In his earlier years he and Helen enjoyed square dancing and he was an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman, card player and enjoyed attending the grandchildren’s sports functions.
John is survived by his wife of 67 years, Helen McDonald and sons: Tom (Kerry) McDonald, William (Kathy) McDonald and his brother Wilbur McDonald. He is also survived by grandchildren: Jill (William) Reynolds, Kevin McDonald & fianceé Kelly Watson, Kaitlin (Scott) Fink, Joseph McDonald, Timothy McDonald and great-grandchildren Bella & Brooklyn Fink and Landon, Laken, Ashlyn Reynolds.
He was predeceased by his son Gary McDonald and brothers Maurice and James McDonald.
