Major John Joseph Prosceno, Jr, age 60, of Rockledge, Florida, passed away on January 29, 2020. Although his death was sudden and unexpected we find peace in knowing that he is now with Jesus and all of our loved ones who have gone before. We believe that his last breath here on Earth was his first breath in Heaven, and that being in Jesus’ presence is better than a thousand years elsewhere.
John was born to John Prosceno, Sr. and Linda Prosceno in Wilmington, Delaware. His younger brother is Anthony Prosceno. John and Anthony were a team. They have a deep and abiding love for one another.
After graduating from Rockledge High School, John enlisted in the Air Force. Soon after becoming an airman he married the love of his life, Candice Prosceno on March 15th, 1978. John and Candy met at a very young age (12 and 15), fell deeply in love, and built a marriage that stood the test of time. Their love is lasting and true.
John and Candy built a beautiful life with Jesus as their foundation. From their love and commitment came 4 children. Their first child, Aaron, passed on to heaven very soon after his birth and is now in the arms of his daddy. Andrea, Christine, and John are their other three children. John and Candy have 10 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Our family is deeply connected and overflowing with love for one another. We are thankful for the time and many experiences that we have had so far. We are thankful that our dad was such an amazing role model and we are proud to be his children and carry on his legacy.
John was a very driven and disciplined person. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees while serving in the Air Force. He became an officer in the Air Force and he reached the rank of Major before retiring. He loved his work in the Air Force and especially anything that had to do with Space.
John also loved to run. He completed numerous races, including three Disney marathons, and ran up and down Pikes Peak. He was always ready to take on a good challenge. John wouldn’t let MS stop him from living life to the fullest. He loved taking Candy on amazing adventures all over the world, taking his grandchildren to Disney, and swimming in the pool regularly with his little ones. He loved making memories with Candy and their family.
John was always generous and kind. He was a man of honorable character and unshakable integrity. He lived and loved well. He taught his children to put God first, family second, and country third. He taught us to persevere through the hard things in life, to live every moment to the fullest, to smile a lot, to forgive freely, and to love the people around us.
Above all, he taught us about Jesus. We will continue to pass this godly heritage down through the generations.
I know that he would want YOU to stop here and consider where you will spend eternity. Life on Earth is short, eternity is forever. Choose today who you will serve.
As for John and his family, we will serve the Lord!

Dad, we love you. We will miss you every single day that we have left on this earth. You will live on through us here. Soon we will be with you there forever.
