MERRITT ISLAND, FL, July 30, 2016. “The Legend” John Joseph Bourke Passed away, at the age of 102. John was born in Washington, DC, the son of Susan McQuade and John Bourke, Sr. Mr. Bourke married the late Jane Helen Galbraith in 1945, with whom he was blessed with two children, John and Jayne, and was also later blessed with the love and joy of many wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Bourke had been a resident of Brevard County, FL, since 1996, having spent nearly 40 years living and working in Northeastern Pennsylvania’s Wyoming Valley.
Mr. Bourke graduated from Mount Saint Joseph Preparatory School in Baltimore, MD, and the University of Maryland, College Park, MD. He had the honor of proudly serving the United States in World War II and the Korean War. He served four years in the Army Air Corps at the United States Military Academy at West Point and later served at the Pentagon in Washington, DC, during the Korean War.
His interesting and successful professional career culminated with Metropolitan Wire Goods Corporation, now known as InterMetro, helping to take the company from a small manufacturing plant to a large successful international enterprise.
