John James Swain, Sr. passed away January 21, 2021 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro, GA. “Jimbo” as he was known by most, was born on August 8, 1948 in Gardi, GA to Frank and Mary Setney Swain, Jr. He loved his country and was a Viet Nam veteran who served four tours of duty in Viet Nam.
Jimbo appreciated the creation God has given us and preferred the outdoors to anything indoors. He was a retired ranch hand, having lived and worked many years in Nebraska. He loved fishing, camping, and watching old westerns. He wasn’t happy unless he was busy. And when you saw him, you expected him to have his ice water mug.
Jimbo is preceded by his parents; his sister, Ellen; and his brothers, Paul and Gary “Gator”.
He is survived by his daughters, Annie, Ashley, Shanna, Mary, Rachel and Chris; his sons, John Jr. and Brandon “Chance”; his sisters, Phyllis, Margaret, Patricia, Laverne, Wilda and Jean; his brothers, Frank Jr., George and Harvey; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
