John James “JJ” Rhodes, 70, of Fairplay, Md., passed away Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, at his home.
He was born Feb. 6, 1944, in Hagerstown, Md., to the late Millard Leon and Josephine Elizabeth Gaylor Rhodes.
John was a graduate of Williamsport High School, Class of 1962.
He served in the U.S. Army in Korea in the early 1960s.
John was employed by the Western Maryland Railroad in Hagerstown, Md., until his retirement, and most recently was employed by and retired from Crane Masters in Richmond, Va.
He was of the Assemblies of God faith.
He was a member of AARP, Dixon Troxell Post 211 American Legion, Funkstown, Md., and the Piney Mountain Sportsman Association in Savage Mountain, Md.
John also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Susie Rhodes of Fairplay; one daughter, Tracey L. Rhodes of Hagerstown; six sisters, Jane E. Reeder of Edgewater, Fla., Mary Ellen Hornbaker of Williamsport, Md., Bernice M. Garnes of Orlando, Fla., Bonnie S. Knight of Sharpsburg, Md., Cassie V. Wigfield of Manassas, Va., and Anna L. Ruck of Virginia; and three brothers, George A. Rhodes of Williamsport, Gerald W. Rhodes of Sharpsburg and David L. Rhodes of Williamsport.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin L. Rhodes and Roy G. Rhodes.
