John James Gruss, Sr., (Jack) age 73, a resident of Greenland Beach for 70 years, died on August 13, 2012 at his home after suffering from cancer for four years.
He was born on May 30, 1939, in Philadelphia, PA. He attended St. Jane Frances Elementary School for eight years, and two years in trade school. He then worked as an electrician for Domino’s Sugar and Allied Chemical. Afterwards, he became self employed; for 40 years the owner of Jack’s Marine Service.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years: Catherine Gruss; four sons: Jack Gruss, Jr. and his wife Christine, Danny Gruss and his wife Kathy, all of Pasadena, Kenny Gruss and his wife Joyce, of Greenland Beach, and Wayne Gruss of Pasadena; and his daughter Pamela O’Brien and her husband Joe, of Pasadena; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
