John A. Jack Yepsen, 78, of Lostant, passed away Sunday morning, October 2, 2011 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Mr. Yepsen was born April 13, 1933 in Princeton to Gilbert and Maxine (McGill) Yepsen. He graduated from Princeton High School.
He married Mary Ann Fervier on October 15, 1955 in DePue. Mr. Yepsen was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served as a corporal in the Korean War. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Lostant. He was a retired correctional officer from the Illinois Department of Corrections. After retirement, he worked as a bus driver for Ladd and Lostant Schools, and most recently Illinois Central School Bus. He was a dedicated sports fan of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, Fighting Illini and NASCAR, especially Bill Elliott.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann; six children, Rick Hurt of Texas, Charles (Debby) Hurt of Peoria, Sherry (Warren Harrison) Tice of Colorado, John Yepsen of Colorado, Jeff Yepsen of California, and Les (Lisa) Yepsen of Dixon; seven grandchildren, Brian Hurt, Kerensa Williams, Aman Tice, Halley Yepsen, Zander Yepsen, Miranda Yepsen and Andrew Yepsen; three great-grandchildren, Ronin Tice, Trevor Williams and Bodhi Hurt; two sisters, Maxine Yepsen and Jeanean Yepsen; one sister-in-law, Norma (Bill) McCully and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Joey and Jayme Yepsen; one brother, Gilbert (Joanne) Yepsen, Jr. and one brother-in-law, John Fervier.
