Dr. John “Jack” S. McIntosh, a noted physicist and Paleontologist, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2015, in Middletown, Connecticut. Born in 1923, “Dr. Mac” was an expert on sauropod dinosaurs, a physics professor and department head at Wesleyan University, and inspired countless students, colleagues, friends, and family. He is known for determining the correct skull of Apatosaurus at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh, and in 2010 was honored by having a newly discovered species named Abydosaurus mcintoshii. Jack was born and raised in Ford City, Pennsylvania. He flew reconnaissance over Japan in WWII before going on to his professional life as a theoretical nuclear physicist and lifelong avocational paleontologist. He is survived by a sister-in-law, four nieces, four nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
