John R. Bolander, ‘Jack’ aka Poppy entered eternal rest on December 13, 2020. Jack was born in Beacon, NY on October 4, 1934, son of the late Arthur & Gladys (Suza) Bolander. He was 87 years old. Jack served the country that he so loved in the Army at Fayetteville, NC and became a paratrooper with the 82nd airborne.
He worked at Texaco Research Center in Glenham NY before becoming a teacher. Jack taught in Highland Falls, NY for a short time and spent the rest of his teaching years in Newtown CT teaching Math until his retirement. Jack and his wife Fran enjoyed the winter months in Naples Florida for 20 years where they met many wonderful forever friends. Jack enjoyed building and flying small planes and boats on their lake in Naples, FL.
Jack was very active in three main churches. St. Luke’s Church in Beacon and most recent, Christ Church, United Methodist in Beacon and was a faithful servant in a little Church in Naples FL. Jack is survived by his wife Frances DeAgostino (Butler) Bolander, his sons John D. Bolander and Jeffery Bolander of Buford, GA; His four stepsons, Stephen Butler (Kathleen) of Virginia, Bobby Butler (Diane) of Beacon, Gary Butler (Debbie) of Beacon and Christopher Butler of Beacon; his grandchildren Eric, Shane, and Jena Butler; Nicole Butler Winchell and Amber Butler, Cory, and Brad Butler and four great grandchildren. Along with his parents, Jack was predeceased by his brother Arthur Bolander.
