HAVERHILL – John D. O’Leary (Jack) 57, of Bradford, MA passed away Friday, February 18, 2022, peacefully at his home surrounded by his family and friends.

He was born in Lynn, MA on April 1, 1964 and was raised in Lynnfield, MA. After graduating from Lynnfield High in 1982, he went on to Bridgton Academy and Stonehill College, graduating with a degree in communications in 1986. In his academic years, Jack was an avid lacrosse, skier, volleyball and soccer athlete. Upon graduation Jack worked for CHB Enterprises as a Sporting Goods Buyer. He continued to work in retail in various positions from buyer to management.

Jack was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when he was 4 and along with wonderful family support, he courageously refused to be defined by his disease. He loved life and was determined to live every day to the fullest. Jack was an active member of the CF Community and enjoyed speaking on CF podcasts and sharing his experiences with various support groups. Jack also was a member of the Garibaldi Club and the Bradford Swim Club.

Jack was a true Parrot Head and never missed a chance to see his favorite singer, Jimmy Buffett in concert.

Jack was a wonderful husband, father and friend.  He lived for watching his sons in their various sporting events and activities.

Surviving family members include his wife and best friend of 22 years, Christine, his sons Sean and Braeden, his mother Susan O’Leary, brother Mark O’Leary and his wife Melanie and many beloved cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Jack also leaves behind his 2 furry buddies Finn and Dublin and the cat that thinks she is a dog, Zuzu. He was preceded in death by his father, John J. O’Leary Jr.

Jack’s family wishes to thank all the family, friends and the Haverhill Community for all the support during this time. Many thanks also to Boston Children’s Hospital for their extraordinary care with his Cystic Fibrosis battle. Special thanks to his doctors Dr. Ahmet Uluer, Dr. Manuela Cernadas and Dr. Craig Gerard.
