John “Jack” Meredith Long, age 78, passed away peacefully July 1, 2020 at his home in Dacula, GA.

Mr. Long was born in Fort Worth Texas in 1941 to Brig. General Anthony Long and Eunice Long. Mr. Long was a veteran, and served as a medic in the USAF. Mr.

Long graduated from Roosevelt High School, earned a bachelor’s degree from UCSD, and married his soulmate in San Diego, CA. He spent most of his life in San Diego, CA, Dahlonega and Dacula, Georgia. Mr. Long had many interests, including: professional car racing, motorcycle riding, camping, hiking, gardening, history, and he was an avid animal lover.

Mr. Long was a member of Toastmasters, and volunteered several years for an Alcoholics Anonymous halfway house, battered women’s shelters, numerous animal shelters, and served on the board of several charitable organizations. Mr. Long retired from Park West Real Estate Company, San Diego Transit, and worked over fifteen years for Walmart, including Human Resources.

Jack was beloved and survived by his wife of thirty-two years, Linda; daughters, Danelle Verduzco of Visalia, California, Deidre Martin (Carl Booth) of Buford, GA, and Gwendolyn (Jeremiah Stoldt) of Robbinsville, NJ; granddaughter, Isabelle; grandsons, Jesse, Robert, and Mason; great-grandchildren Michael and Camila; sister in law, Pamela Riddle; nephews, Zachary & Jaden; and grandnephews and nieces, Aiden, Camden, Julian, Nicolette, Samantha, & Aislyn.
