John (Jack) Moodie, age 90, of Northampton and formerly of East Longmeadow, died peacefully at the Soldier’s Home in Holyoke on Friday, May 1, 2015. He was born in Fall River, MA on November 29, 1924, son of John and Agnes (Campbell) Moodie. He graduated from Northampton High School in 1942 and from Mt Hermon School in 1943. That same year, Jack entered the Army’s 53rd Replacement Battalion and served as a Staff Sergeant in Germany and Northern France during World War II.
Jack was predeceased by his parents and brothers, A. Eric Moodie and Eben Moodie. He leaves his wife of 63 years, Betty Moodie, his daughters Karen Moodie-Gallagher and her husband, Don Gallagher of Hadley, Debra Roraback and her husband, Bob of Salem, CT., granddaughters, Lindsay Gallagher, Courtney (Gallagher) Shea and her husband, Tim, 2 grandsons, Michael Roraback and Jeffery Roraback and 2 great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Rachel Roraback and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Rock Ridge and O’Connell Care and especially the VNA Hospice programs and staff at the Holyoke Soldier’s Home for the care he received during his last days.
