Jack graduated in the second graduating class from Fairfield College Preparatory School in 1946, proudly served in the Army in World War II, and then attended Fairfield University, graduating in 1952.

He was a Marketing Manager at Southern Connecticut Telephone Company where he retired after 30 years. His retirement consisted of playing in the sand on the golf course, annual trips to Sarasota and Watch Hill, many family parties and get-togethers, and watching his grandchildren play together in his beloved backyard pool. Jack always looked forward to seeing his brothers from Fairfield Prep at the annual Latin Scholars Luncheon. Jack will be remembered as a kind-hearted gentleman with a great sense of humor.
In addition to his wife Jane of nearly 70 years, Jack is survived by his sister Patricia O’Brien, his daughter Mary Jane Connell and her husband Bill Baal, daughter Meg Connell, his son Brian Connell and his wife Lynda Finkenstadt Connell. He will be fondly remembered as “Poppy” to grandchildren Amy Connell and her fiancé Christopher Parker, Mollie Manzi Richards and her husband James Richards, Brian Connell, Jr. and his wife Cheri Hamilton Connell, Justine Manzi Palmer and her husband Jason Palmer, and great-granddaughter Caitlyn Richards. Jack is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Jon and Jackie Aspinwall, and brothers-in-law Edward Austin and Les Harriman. He was “Uncle Jack” to his fifteen nieces and nephews and was great-uncle to fifteen more.
