John “Jack” Angelo Davey, 74, died on Oct. 9, 2008 at a local healthcare facility. Jack was born November 4, 1933 in Roberts, Idaho to George Andrew Davey and Eva Alberta Davey. Jack was the oldest of four children. He lived in many homes around the Rigby area during his childhood and met his life long friend Ted Hanson. He graduated from Rigby High School in 1953. He then joined the Army and served in Korea.
Jack married Mary Lue Christensen in 1956. They had four children, Rodney, Richard, Angela, and Valarie. Jack and Mary Lue moved to their first home on Cassia in 1962 where they lived until their deaths.
Jack worked in the drywall business for 48 years. He ran his own business until the early 70’s. Then Jack went to work for Interstate Interiors until retiring in 2001.
Jack had many good employees. Jack loved working with the young men teaching them what he knew. He made life long friendships with Greg, Darren, Mike, Joe and Mike.
Jack loved the outdoors. Dad and Mom spent many hours camping at Baumgartner’s, fishing and riding Totegotes with Keith and Lois and Claude and LaRue. He also loved to hunt with his boys.
Dad loved his horses, Buff, Skeeter, and Blossom. He rode them any chance he could. He was a founding member of the IMO Club of Idaho. He enjoyed riding on these rides with Rod, Terrie and Rachel. He also loved just a good trail ride in the hills.
Jack is survived by his children, Rod and Terrie Davey, Rick and Elaine Davey, Angela and Larry Jensen, Valarie and Dan Price; 15 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; one sister, Iva Lou; and two brothers, Merlin and Marvin. Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Mary Lue; his parents; and a brother.
The family would like to thank Dad’s life long friends, Gage and Emmy Jasperson and Gordon and Mary Lou Jones for all they have done, especially Mary Lou for her special care of dad this past year.
