John J. Thoder, 68, of Bethlehem, passed away on Tuesday , December 6, 2016 at Lehigh Valley Hospice in Allentown.
Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late George (Oscar) and Loretta (DeAngelis) Thoder. John was a graduate of Liberty High School where he was an All American diver and was inducted into the athletic hall of fame. He then went on to further his education and diving career at the University of South Carolina where he earned his bachelor degree in the Arts. John was invited to the 1972 Olympic trials for diving.
He was an active dance teacher and instructor and most recently he worked as a salesman. John was very active in the Bethlehem Group of A.A. and was a teacher at the Allentown Area Swing Dance Society.
Survivors: he will be lovingly remembered by his sons Carl and his wife Rebeca of Columbia, SC, Michael and his wife Susan of Haddonfield, NJ; grandchildren Max, Emily, Simona, Blake and Leighton. John was predeceased by his parents and sister Georgia Reybitz.
