John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jackie; son, John (Dee) Longdin III; daughter, Sherry (Mike) McCoy of Ames; and his four grandchildren, John Longdin IV; James Lee Longdin; Michael J. McCoy; and Krisane (Eric) Hineman. He was preceded in death by his parents, John J. and Ellen (Davidson) Longdin; and two sisters, Louise Schwab and Betty DeMoss.
On Apr. 14, 1956, John married Jackie Walker in Greensboro, N. C. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. John owned and operated Longdin Transfer for 18 years.
