John J. Lewis, 90 of Toms River, NJ died on Wednesday June 20, 2012 at Green Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Toms River. Born in Jersey City, NJ, he lived in Kearny, NJ before moving to Toms River in 1983. He served in the United States Navy during WWII at the rank of Yeoman 1st Cl.

He was a member of the VFW and Knights of Columbus in Harrison, NJ and a member the PBA. John was a Detective for the Hudson County Police Department in Jersey City for 30 years and retired in 1978. He loved to travel with Lillian to Atlantic City. He is a parishioner at St. Joseph RC church, Toms River. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Lillian (nee Golias) Lewis.

His six children and their spouses Laurel J. (Don) Brennan, Jack (Cathy) Lewis, Missy (Chuck) Foster, Bobbie Colosky, Robert Lewis, and Jim (Joni) Lewis. His eight grandchildren and their spouses Christine (Dave) Andrews, Joey (Stacy) Marino, Rob (Amy) Marino, Mike (Sarah) Lewis, Kelly Lewis-Champney, Steve (Yessica) Lewis, Suzie (Rudy) Sanda, Jackie (John) Obeid and 10 great grandchildren.
