John J. Kreegan, 94, of Holiday City Carefree section of Berkeley Twp., NJ died Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in Manhattan, NY, he lived in Brooklyn, NY before moving to Berkeley Twp. 32 years ago.
John was a US Navy WWII veteran, serving in the Pacific aboard the USS Guam and the USS Caldwell. After serving in WWII, John continued his career as a Sandblaster for another 18 years then began a career as a Sheet Metal Worker. John was a longtime parishioner of St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Berkeley Twp. and was a member of the church’s Holy Name Society and served as an Altar Server since the opening of the church. He was also a member of the Holiday City First Aid Squad, the VFW Post 10185, Berkeley Twp., the Knights of Columbus, Brooklyn, NY and worked in Maintenance at the Holiday Carefree Clubhouse.
Surviving are his wife of 69 years Angie; 4 children and their spouses Pete and Annette Kreegan of Frederick, Md., Anita and Said Malouf of Bayville, NJ, Patricia and Dennis Dwyer of Parlin, NJ, Donna and Joseph Bruno of Monroe, NJ; 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
