John J. Hanses, age 56, of South Elgin, passed away from Pancreatic Cancer on Monday, July 26, 2021 at home with his loving family and friends at his side.
John was born March 25, 1965, in Carbondale, the son of Edward and Gladys (Miller) Hanses.
John studied fine art at Elgin Community College, where he was an award-winning photographer. As the owner of One Choice Cab in Geneva, IL, he enjoyed meeting people from all walks of life.
John was a devout Catholic, an avid fisherman, had a voracious appetite for a good debate, and loved an active game of pinochle with his family.
He is survived by his siblings Mark, Patrick (Judy), Daniel, Mary (Keith) Davis, Teresa (Gary) Richardson, Andrew (Darlene), and Susie (Joe) Murphy; several nieces and nephews; and other dear relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Ann Hanses.
