John J. Garman, age 84, of Wesley, passed away Monday, March 2, 2015 at the Hancock Memorial Hospital in Britt.

John James Garman was born on May 22, 1930 to August and Mary “Mae” (Laux) Garman. John attended St. Joseph’s Schools in Wesley and graduated in 1948. On January 6, 1951, John enlisted into the United States Air Force. John was a Jet Fighter mechanic. He was very proud to serve his entire four year enlistment. On January 5, 1955 he was discharged at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico. That spring John started farming. On December 2, 1978, John was united in marriage to Theresa Thelen. John’s sister had introduced the couple one year prior. The couple continued to live on the same farm that John was born and have never moved their entire marriage. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wesley and American Legion Andrews Post # 428.

Left to cherish John’s memory is his wife of 36 years, Theresa of Wesley; sisters Margaret Pierce of Britt and Rita Yohn of Bloomington, MN; sister-in-law, Freda Garman of Livermore and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Mary Garman; sisters, Ruth Garman BVM and Lorrine Goetz and brothers, Paul, Louis, Thomas and Edward Garman.
