The Reverend John J. Duminiak
Pastor Emeritus, of Saint Mary Church, Beaver Meadows, died on Monday, 20 December 2010, at the age of 77, at Holy Family Villa for Priests, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
A native of Philadelphia, Father Duminiak was the son of the late John F. and Stella (Bogdanski) Duminiak. He is survived by his brother, Robert and his wife Christine, of Bensalem; a nephew, Matthew, and a niece, Jamie.
Father Duminiak attended Saint Hedwig Parochial School, Philadelphia, Saint John Cantius High School, Erie, and Roman Catholic High School, Philadelphia. He studied for the Priesthood at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, Philadelphia. He was ordained to the Priesthood on 14 May 1960 by the Most Reverend J. Carroll McCormick at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia.
Father Duminiak’s first Priestly assignment was Parochial Vicar, Saint Stanislaus Church, Minersville, followed by Parochial Vicar, Saint Anthony of Padua Church, Easton; Parochial Vicar, Cathedral of Saint Catharine of Siena, Allentown and Parochial Vicar, Sacred Heart Church, Palmerton. He also served as Professor and Vice Principal, Notre Dame High School, Green Pond. He was named Pastor for the first time at Saint Mary Church, Reading, and later as Pastor of Saint Mary Church, Beaver Meadows. He was a resident of Saint Anthony of Padua Church, Easton; Saint Michael Church, Easton; and Notre Dame of Bethlehem Church.
Upon his retirement, Father Duminiak was named Pastor Emeritus, Saint Mary Church, Beaver Meadows.
During the course of his Priestly Ministry, Father Duminiak held the following Auxiliary Diocesan Assignments: Advocate, Diocesan Tribunal and Member, Budget Board, Marian High School, Tamaqua.
Concelebrating the Mass are the Reverend Monsignor Gerald E. Gobitas, Secretary for Clergy, Chancellor, and Rector, Holy Family Villa; Reverend Monsignor Thomas E. Hoban, Pastor Emeritus, Saint Ann Church, Emmaus; and Reverend Floyd Caesar, Jr., Pastor, Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Weatherly.
