John Barbour “J.B.” Broyles, Jr., 77, Shelbyville, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2015 at his home following a long illness. A native of Fern Creek, he was the son of the late Catherine and John Barbour Broyles, Sr. He was a finish carpenter and won several awards through Homearama. He was also a volunteer builder of Kingdom Halls, both locally and internationally. He had worked on volunteer builds in Jamaica, Panama, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio and Indiana, among other places. He was a member of the Shelbyville Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
In addition to his parents, one brother, David Neal Broyles and one sister, Kathleen Ana Swartz, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce K. Broyles of Shelbyville; three sons, Jonathan David (Gerri) Broyles of Mt. Washington, Jeffrey Neal (Dawn) Broyles of Jeffersonville, IN and Jeremy Boyce (Kristy) Broyles of New Albany, IN; one daughter, Barbara Kay (Bo) Annis of Finchville; three sisters, Mary Ellen (James) Ernspiker of Elizabethtown, Linda Rose (Eddie) Swartz of Springhill, FL and Carol Lynette (Butch) House of Fern Creek; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
