John (Jack) 1. Malpas, Jr. passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022, at age 88. He was born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, on Friday, June 29, 1934, to John and Verna (Stritter) Malpas. In June of 1952, Jack graduated from Milne High School which was located in the New York City Teacher’s College. He attended Clarkson College in Potsdam, New York and the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico. 
On Monday, July 27, 1953, Jack and Ann Smith were married and moved to Albuquerque. They divorced in 1968. 

On Monday, March 3, 1958, through Sandia National Laboratories, Jack participated in a Machinist Training Apprenticeship Program. He graduated as a machinist journeyman in March 1962. At Twenty-five he entered the program and he was one of five to finish. He received his top-secret clearance in 1984. 

Jack married Betty Langell on Sunday, March 23, 1969. 

Jack enjoyed having his private pilot’s license.

After retirement, Betty and Jack traveled throughout the U.S. and Canada in their trailer. They also took several cruises as well as traveling to England, Australia, New Zealand, and Hawaii. 
 
Jack was pre-deceased by his parents, wife, sisters, Louise and Arlene; brothers-in-law, Wes and Jeff; stepson, Ricky; sons-in-law, Sam and Mike; granddaughter, Kim 

Jack was proud of his Mason Membership. 

He is survived by his daughters, Joanne (Paul) and Wendy (Bill); his stepdaughter, Debbie; stepson, Jim (Jane); sister, Verna; brother, Bruce. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and  nieces and nephews.
