John Houston “Johnny” Watkins, age 87 of Birmingham, AL passed away on June 25, 2022. John was born October 10, 1934 in Hueytown, AL to his parents, Eugene and Emogene Watkins. He was a graduate of Ensley High School. John was a member of Meadowbrook Church of Gadsden, AL.
John was a successful businessman and wonderful provider for his family. John enjoyed fishing and golfing. He was a loving husband and father who cherished his family. He loved through his actions more than his words, and he lived for his family through his hard work and diligence.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Jewell Ann Fowler Watkins; one daughter, Dana Joy Watkins Cochran; his parents and his three siblings, Elizabeth Sims, Billie Jean Stripling and Bobby Watkins.
He is survived by his brother, Grady Brown Watkins; his children, John Houston “Rusty” Watkins, Jr., Joel Watkins, Joni Watkins, Jeri Watkins Haefner (Scott), Aimee Watkins Bunn (Chass); his eleven grandchildren, Tessa, Trent, Brooke, John, Brittany, Megan, Chase, Cameron, Makenzi, Kylee, Abbi; twenty great grandchildren. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
