John Henry Davis, Sr. passed away peacefully at his home in Taft, CA on March 10, 2017. He went to be with the Lord at the age of 67. He was predeceased by his mother, Mary Bell Blackburn and his sister, Martha Roach. He is survived and remembered by Kelly and Jason Harvey of Grand Junction, IA, Lori and Paul McMahan of Taft, CA, John and Kiley Davis of Grand Junction, IA; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his brother, James and his wife, Vickie Davis; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was born on January 1, 1950 in Eloy, AZ. He lived in many states but mostly resided in Taft, CA. He was a jack-of-all trades but was master of none. He started working at Walt’s TV then Topper’s Restaurant. He then worked at the rest home behind The Fort, then became a grounds keeper at the Buena Vista Golf Course. Lastly, he was a rig hand for General Production for many years before he became a handyman/gardener. He took a lot of pride in is work and had steady customers until he retired. He was an avid dominos player and loved watching his favorite old movies. He enjoyed going to the coast for fish-n-chips and clam chowder every year for his birthday.
