John H. Springer, 100 years old, of Lakeside, Michigan died Saturday, January 31, 2009.John was born October 18, 1908 in Eau Claire, Michigan to William and Rosella (Cranfull) Springer. He served his country in the US Army attaining the rank of Private First Class, stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

On September 19, 1931 he married Vera Brown in LaPorte, Indiana. He was employed by Clark Equipment Company, retiring in 1968. John enjoyed the simple things in life, gardening, working out of doors, and spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Agnes Church, Sawyer.

Survivors include his grandchildren, Julie (John) Grynwich, of New Buffalo, Michigan and Lance (Anna) Springer of Coloma, Michigan; great grandchildren, Stephanie Grynwich, Isaac Grynwich, Dustin Springer, Kellie (Andrew) Epstein, and Joshua Springer; sister, Violet Dunkel of Washington; brother David Springer of Lakeside; and sister in law, Vernita Kurina of Lakeside; Amy Springer of Galien; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and cousins.

John was preceded in death by his loving wife Vera in 2002; son, John E. Springer, daughter in law, Norma Springer, infant grandchildren, John E. Jr. and Renee Rosalie, sisters, Gladys Neruda and Ethel Reynolds and brothers, Lawrence, Clarence and Walter.
