Those left to honor John’s memory are his 3 sons, John “Willie” (Renee) Sliger of Newton, Wayne (Brigitte) Sliger of Iowa City, Iowa, and Larry (Diane) Sliger of Des Moines, Iowa; daughter, Nancy (Tim) Stevens of Des Moines; his 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; his brother, Robert Sliger of Nebraska; 3 sisters, Doris Klein of Chariton, Iowa, Emily Irene Tuttle of Cambria, Iowa, and Verna Nell of Monroe, Iowa; and his many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth; his son, Robert; grandson, Steven Sliger; and his brother, Ernest Sliger.
John was a production worker at the Maytag Company for 30 years, retiring from the Dryer Department in 1993.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge No. 923 in Newton and the UAW Local 997 Retirees Union.
