John Henry Siewert, 84 of Caldwell, Idaho, passed away peacefully, Monday, July 25, 2016, at Autumn Wind Assisted Living. John had been a resident of the facility for the past 3 years.
Born on June 8, 1932 in Santa Ana, California, to Leonard William Siewert and Harriet Ruth (Hauptman) Siewert, John was the third of four children.
John, Joyce and family, moved to Nampa, in July 1961 to farm, but eye surgery in 1962 did not allow him to fulfill that dream. Instead, they moved to Caldwell in 1963 and built the Royal Manor apartments on S.10th Ave. which they owned and managed until 1975. In 1968 John started a successful yard and garden business, which he operated until health problems prompted the move to Autumn Wind Assisted Living. John had a passion for growing plants, especially roses. He had a rose garden at each house they owned, carefully tending to each plant, with special attention to the yellow ones. Yellow was Joyce’s favorite color.
John is survived by a sister, Dorothy E. Feazel of Moses Lake, WA; two brothers, William L. (Joyce) Siewert of Spokane, WA, and Charles F. (Harriet) Siewert of Caldwell; three children, William E. (Anita) Siewert of Caldwell, Susan D. Mills of Meridian, and David J. Siewert of Ogden, UT; grandchildren include, John D. (Rebecca) Siewert of Caldwell, Christopher Siewert of Boise, Kristie Mills (John) Chapman of Paradise, CA, and Jeremy (Janel) Mills, U.S. Navy, currently stationed in Japan; four great-grandchildren, Dominick Chapman, Keiley & Hayden Siewert, and Taxon Mills.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, and brother-in-law, Bob Feazel.
Although John was a quiet, reserved man, his faith and trust in Jesus was evident in his character; in his interactions with those with whom he worked, and with his family and friends. We will miss you, Dad.
