John H., Locke, 68, passed away Monday, July 4, 2011, with his family at his side, at his residence in Muncie following an extended illness. He was born February 8, 1943, in Sherfield, Alabama. He moved to Muncie and attended Lincoln Elementary, Wilson Junior High, and graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1963.
He served in the National Guard with the 151st Infantry.
John was employed at Delphi in Anderson prior to his retirement in 2005. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 662.
John loved his wife, daughters, and grandchildren, the Indianapolis Colts, bird watching, making bird houses, and he loved to fish.
Surviving are his loving wife of forty years, Trudy “Cross” Locke; four daughters, Johnetta Lambert, (husband, Robert) Losantville, Jama North, (husband, Eric), Modoc, Karrie Ann Locke, Ft. Wayne, and Jamie Mercer, Muncie; eight grandchildren, Jameson, Alex and Ashley North, Kristeen and Katie Lambert, Brooks Curtis, and Joshua and Karina Mercer; five great grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Sue Shirrell, Springport, his brother-in-law, Steve Cross, (wife, Rachel), Muncie; his sister-in-law, Barbara Cross, New Castle; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, John H. Locke; his mother, Evelyn Daniel Locke Bryant; his father-in-law, Albert Cross; and his son-in-law, Gary Mercer.
