John Gregory Stremmel, 58, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on July 6, 2018.
John was a devoted husband to his wife Anita, dedicated father to Hannah and Devin, and loving brother to Rich Stremmel, Susan (Francis) Donahue, and Julie (Bob) Barkley.
John and Anita were married on July 22, 1995 and they shared a wonderful 23 years of marriage together. John was extremely proud of both his children who learned to be responsible, successful adults by his example.
John was generous and did what he could for others. He donated his stem cells when his sister, Julie, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and ultimately saved her life.
As an Eagle Scout, John truly lived by the Scout Law – A Scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent. It was in his nature to do the right thing, and he encouraged others to do the same. He was an active committee member of Troop 338 where he enjoyed teaching scouts about healthy eating, outdoor cooking, canoeing, and so many other activities. John helped guide many scouts, including his son, along the path to attain the rank of Eagle Scout.
John loved the outdoors and would encourage everyone to get outside and enjoy nature, be it at a State, National, or local park or your own back yard. He would ask you to be a good steward of the Earth by picking up litter wherever and whenever you see it, planting some veggies (and eating them), and repurposing or recycling whenever possible.
In addition to his immediate family, John is survived by many brothers- and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
