John S. Govensky of Grantville, Georgia was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 2, 1948, and passed from this earthly realm on August 12, 2017. He was predeceased by his father, Paul Dresser, and brother, Paul David Govensky. He will be missed by many friends, cousins, in-laws and associates. He is survived by his mother, Beatrice Marie Govensky, Central City, Kentucky, and his wife, Iola Govensky.
He served in the Air Force and was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and Masonic Lodge. He retired from Delta Airlines Ground Support Equipment as a Safety and Environmental Compliance Manager. John was a member of First Baptist Church of Hogansville, Georgia and formerly served at SonRise Baptist Church in Newnan as a part of their greeter team. He was a people person and enjoyed being a part of the Celebrate Recovery ministry at SonRise. He assisted those less fortunate than himself throughout his lifetime.
