John Goecke, age 69, of Algona died on Wednesday July 13, 2016 at the Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa.
John Edward Goecke, the son of Edward and Genevieve (Rauch) Goecke, was born on November 7, 1946 in Lake City, Iowa. He graduated from Bishop Garrigan High School in 1964. John served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1964 – 67 and was honorably discharged due to his father’s poor health. On June 22, 1968 John was united in marriage with Patricia Ann Reding at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joseph, Iowa.
He had owned and operated Goecke Curing. John was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears and the Garrigan Golden Bears. John also enjoyed the happy times he spent with his wife Patty at their Lost Island Lake Cabin. John is survived by his siblings, Joan (Harry) Lotis of Owings, MD, Margaret (Jerry) Dunbar of Mason City, Robert (Denise) Goecke of California, Fran (Patrick) Driscoll of Davenport, Joseph (Barb) Goecke of Algona and Richard (Julie) Goecke of Ankeny, IA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patty in 2011 and his parents.
