John Geragotelis, age 82, of Norwich passed away at the Norwichtown Rehabilitation and Care Center on July 13, 2015 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Norwich on January 30, 1933 to the late Emanuel and Maria (Papyis) Gerogotelis. He married his loving wife Theresa (Brogno) on October 17, 1959 at St. Mary’s Church in Norwich.
John worked as a toolmaker for Electric Boat in Groton for 40 years and served in Germany in the US Army from 1952 to 1955. He was a loving husband, brother, father and grandfather and was always the first one to tell a joke. He had a lifelong passion for golf and loved listening to music and rooting for the NY Rangers. John and his wife Theresa enjoyed their summers at Misquamicut Beach and doing the daily Jumble and Crossword puzzles. John will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
John is survived by his wife Theresa, three sons, John and his wife Diane of Oak Harbor WA, Nick and his wife Mary of Canterbury CT, Paul and his wife Kelly of Sharon MA, and one daughter, MaryEllen and her husband Jed of Norwich CT. He is survived by nine grand children, Brittany, Amy, Jacey, Andrew, Jeremy, Alexander, Nicholas, Tessa, Zeb and one great-grandchild, Cash. He leaves behind three sisters, Irene Chapman of Orem, Utah, Elizabeth Martell of Uncasville and Julia Geragotelis of Norwich. He is predeceased by a brother, William Geragotelis and a sister, Eva Scott.
