John George Ryan Jr., 71, of Kingwood, WV, died on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at Preston Memorial Hospital.
John was born April 7, 1944, in Laurel, MD, a son of the late John “Jack” George Ryan Sr. and Hattie Evelyn (Souder) Ryan Welch.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War; he was a member of the Fort Butler VFW Post #826 in Kingwood. John worked for Raspa Security as a security guard at Greer Limestone. He enjoyed fishing, horseshoes, camping and reading but most of all John enjoyed his time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Patty (Root) Harrison Ryan; two sons, Kevin Maxwell Harrison of Kingwood, Thomas John Ryan of Irmo, SC; three daughters, Frances Kay Harrison and Daniel Horton of Morgantown, Tammie Lee Cochran and Jeremy of Gilbert, SC, April Lynn Simmons and David of Parsons; three brothers, Jackie Ryan of Charles Town, Pat Ryan of Berkley Springs, Rocky Ryan of Charles Town; two sisters Kathy Ryan of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Betty Jane Larkins of Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; special friends, Burl and Libby Ives and their family of Wakeman, OH.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Ryan.
Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapel, 295 South Price Street on Saturday, February 6, 2016, from 12:00 p.m.
