John George “Moose” White, age 75, of Boy River, passed away Friday, April 21, 2017 at Sanford Hospital, Fargo, ND.  He was born in Cass Lake on August 21, 1941 to Joseph and Julia (Bungo) White.

John attended high school in Boy River and once he graduated moved to the cities to attend trade school for sheet metal.  John played basketball all through high school. He was an excellent basketball player. As he grew older he wasn’t afraid to give tips and coach other players. Dedicated and devoted father and husband. His love for his children and sports led him to coach both basketball and baseball teams for his son and daughter numerous times over the years. He was a great coach who took the time to individually coach players, give tips and advice to better their game and themselves.  John met his wife Pam and fell in love.  The two married on their 20th anniversary together and would have been married 41 years this May.

John enjoyed hunting and fishing with his nephews and camping with his family.  When John retired, he loved playing bingo with Deidre, spending precious time with his grandchildren, and going to the casino,  as John was a “people person”.  Those who knew him never had a bad thing to say about him. His gentle kindness and big heart will be greatly missed by many people. He was always willing to help friends, family and neighbors. They don’t make men like him anymore. This world has lost one of the greats.

Those he is joining are his parents; Joseph White, Sr. and Julia (Bungo) White, daughter; Emily Rose White, brothers; Marvin White, Lyman White and Gaylord Anoka, sisters; Dolores Wakefield, Christine White and Leota White, nephews; Ed Whitebird and Cheyenne Lussier, nieces; Dorcus Whitebird, Laverle Wakefield, Denise Wakefield and Joanie White, great-niece; Ashley Whitebird.

Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory are his wife; Pam, children; Travis and Kimberly White, brothers; Joseph (Lucille) White and Randy White, grandchildren; Landon and Noah White, nephews; Ken, Jeff and Sid Whitebird, Steve (Becky) White, Mike, Pat and Brooks White, nieces; Myrna Whitebird, Deidre Whitebird, Brenda White and Tammy White.
