John Fredrick Spratt Jr., 34, passed away Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015 after an 8 month battle with cancer, surrounded by his wife and children.

John was born in Weiser, ID to John and Janet Spratt, much to the joy of his two older sisters, Jolene and Jackie. They spent many summers camping and fishing with cousins and grandparents. He developed a love of baseball at a young age and played through his senior year at Borah High School. After his graduation in 1999, he traveled north to obtain his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Idaho. While there, he became a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity (Love and Respect).

In Aug. 2001 he married the love of his life, TerrieBeth Sturges, in Boise, ID. They were blessed with their son, John (Trip) Fredrick Spratt III in Nov. 2002, who inherited his father’s love of math and baseball, as well as his calm, quiet, determined personality.

Once Trip turned 5, John spent much of his time coaching Trip’s baseball teams. John loved sharing his passion and knowledge of the game with every child he coached over the years. He also had a passion for hunting that he shared with his family.

Their biggest travel adventure was this past year, when John took an opportunity with Micron to relocate to Tokyo, Japan. This presented them with the opportunity to explore Japan and travel to China, New Zealand and Australia.

John is survived by his wife, TerrieBeth; son, Trip; and daughter, Tatem; parents, John and Janet Spratt; grandmother, Esther Nelson; sister, Jolene Taaffe; her husband, Bob and their children, Scarlett and Robert; sister, Jackie Throngard and her husband, Justin; father and mother-in-law, Tim and Terrie Sturges; sister-in-law, Tabitha Gans, her husband David and their children, Madeleine and TBD; brother-in-law, TJ Sturges, his wife Hollie and their children Ethan, Caleb, Austin, Gavin and Isabella; and closest friend, Tim Champ, his wife Mandi and their son Elias.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the quality staff at Saint Alphonsus. A special thanks to those who cared for John and his family during his final days: Dr. Hodson, Dr. Schultheiss and compassionate nurses Keri, Jan, Kara, and Jesse.

You are our always.
