John Frederick “Jack” McMahon, 89, of Melbourne, FL, formerly of Pasadena, passed away peacefully on Sept. 9, 2018, surrounded by his family.
John was born in Ellicott City to the late John A. and Anna T. (Schatz) McMahon. He grew up in a close family and shared a special relationship with his siblings throughout life. He served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He married the love of his life Catherine Ann “Peggy” Gardiner on Aug. 23, 1958. He worked as a draftsman for the Westinghouse Corp. until he retired. An avid fisherman and hunter his entire life, he loved the outdoors and sharing it with his grandchildren. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus as well as supporting the various churches where he lived.
He is survived by his wife Catherine A. McMahon; daughters Maryfrances Buchness (Alec Buchness), Brenda Jean Cavallaro (Tom Cavallaro), Karen Catherine Hedley; Grandchildren Lauren, Lance and Lilia Buchness, Benjamin, Jonathan, Daniel and Nathaniel Cavallaro, Sarah, Christopher, and Ian Hedley; siblings Anna Lee Ditty, Donald McMahon, June Sassaman, and Patricia Fawcett; and a host of loving nieces, nephews and friends.
