John Frank Libera, 83, passed away on June 18, 2012. He was a lifelong resident of Rosemont and worshipped at the English Council Christian Church. John was the beloved husband of 61 years of Emma Louise (nee Adams), dear father of John F., Jr. and Kathy Ann Bennett, loving grandfather of Kristy Ann and Kami Ann Bennett, Katie Elizabeth and Emma Louise Libera and expectant great grandfather of Logan John Martin who is on the way.
He is preceded in death by 3 sisters and 1 brother.
John was an active member of the Maryland Bee Keeper Association, a life member of VFW Post #1400 and the Experimental Aircraft Association. He also belonged to the National Rifle Association, AOPA, Pilot, And the Experimental Aircraft Association where he was a charter member building experimental aircraft and flying. The Department of Agriculture awarded him for Bee Keeping/Honey and won many awards for that at numerous state fairs. He was featured in the Baltimore Sunpaper, tv news and Rosemont Valley Apiaries for his beekeeping.
John served his country as a sergeant in the US Army Aircorps.
Among his many interests, he loved bee keeping most of all, but he had a love of flying and he was a dare devil. He played the harmonica and enjoyed Gospel music. John was also an avid oysterman and crabber, retaining his Commercial Captains’ License. He built his own 40 foot fishing boat named the “Kathy Ann” after his daughter.
