John Francis McCarthy, 73, of North Haven, departed this life on Monday, January 10, 2011 at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven. He was the loving husband of Dorothy (Sheridan) McCarthy.
John was born on February 16, 1937, in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late John and Loretta (Dooley) McCarthy.
John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he proudly served on the U.S.S. Intrepid. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by International Telephone and Telegraph. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed golfing and watching the New York Yankees.
He will be sadly missed by: four daughters: Laura and John Franco of Cheshire, Cheryl McCarthy-Chiari of Wallingford, Christine and Edward Pawlik of Wallingford, Jacqueline and Brian Raposo of North Carolina; ten grandchildren: John Jr., Dane and Liza Franco, Anthony Jr., John B, and Connor Chiari, Patrick and William Pawlik, Julia, Sophia, and Amelia Raposo.
