John Francis “Papa” Burns age67, of Highland, IN passed away Monday, March 14, 2016.
He is survived by his loving children: Michael Dugan (Melissa) Burns, Joanna (late Angelo) Badillo; grandchildren: Jillian Badillo, Michael Dugan Burns Jr., Madison Gail Burns; sisters: Joyce (Bill) Adams, Patricia Burns, and Noreen Burns; beloved uncle of many nephews and nieces; cousins;and soul mate brothers: Stanley Machaj, Pat Logue, and Art Reyna.
John is preceded in death by Gail Perez Burns; parents, Kathryn and John Burns; sister, Mary Catherine Burns;and brother, Timothy Burns.
John was a 1967 graduate of Bishop Noll. He was a Navy Veteran from Vietnam.
John retired after of 42 years of service from LTV and Mittal Steel. He was a die hard Cubs and Notre Dame fan, and enjoyed fishing and golfing.
John was a true Irishman with a twinkle in his eyes and a joke on his lips. He always made you laugh, and always had a smile on his face. He was a good person. An excellent dad, grandfather, brother and friend. I know he is up up in Heaven with his truelove, Gail. Until we meet again may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
