John was born on December 12, 1961. He was preceded in death by his mother Winifred Drotar, his father Lucas “Johann” Drotar, and three brothers; Lucas Drotar, Thomas Drotar, and Douglas Drotar. John is survived by his brothers; James, Christopher, Frank, and Robert and his sisters; Susanne Jongkind, Teri Abbott, and Karen graduated from Algonac High in 1979. He was a loving son to his mother. Because of his disability, he was not able to work, but after the death of his father in 1996, John was able to take care of his mother. He administered medication, made sure that she followed her dietetic regiment, prepared meals and took care of shopping, as well as made sure bills were paid on time. He was proud to drive his mother to church and family functions. John was deeply devout. Before the COVID-19 pandemic he attended Mass regularly. When not attending Mass, John would often spend time reading religious material or watching EWTN; A global Catholic television network. Whenever anyone would drop in to see John, they would find him engaged in music or gospel offerings.
