JOHN ERNEST PICKERING JR.
A resident of Baker, John Ernest Pickering, Jr. was born March 13, 1930, in East Baton Rouge Parish, Baton Rouge, LA. to John and Fannie Wilson Pickering. He grew up in Baton Rouge. On Jan. 15, 1952, he and Phyllis Ginn were married in Slayton, Minn. He was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force, and a Veteran of the Korean war. When he returned from the war they settled in Baker, where they raised their family. He was close to his family and enjoyed his grandchildren. John passed away in Baton Rouge on Monday, Jan. 04, 2010, at the age of 79 after a lengthy illness.
