John Emmett Caldwell
John Emmett Caldwell of Greensboro, Georgia died on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens, Georgia. He was born December 20, 1944 in Phoenix, Arizona at Luke Air Force Base, the son of the late Emmett Elmo Caldwell and Helen Moore Caldwell Prickett. In 1962 he graduated from Greensboro High School. He attended North Georgia College, Georgia Bankers Association School and the John Marshall Law School in Atlanta. On June 29, 1969 he married the former Shirley McKinley of White Plains, Georgia. Emmett served his beloved country in the Army Reserves. His working career began at Caldwell Laundry and Dry Cleaning as an Assistant Manager, then Vice President of Citizens Union Bank (BankSouth) in Greensboro, Georgia and Vice President of Citizens Banking Company in Lexington, Georgia which later became First Commerce Bank where he served as President until he retired.
Emmett was very civic minded and some of his past accomplishments include Greensboro City Council, Greensboro Lions Club President, member of the Jaycees and a charter member and president of the Oglethorpe County Rotary Club.
In addition to his wife, Shirley McKinley Caldwell of Greensboro, Georgia, he is survived by two sons, Chris Caldwell and wife Heather of Watkinsville, Georgia and Craig Caldwell of Chamblee, Georgia; grandchildren, Tori, Seth and Natalie Caldwell.
