All across Europe, chaos reigned as the continent marched headlong towards war. In the borough of The Bronx in New York, however, all was peaceful as John Edward and Catherine Frances Tully Secor welcomed their first child into the world. John Edward Secor was born on June 14, 1940. He attended Immaculate Conception Grade School in Queens and then All Hallows High School in Manhattan. He graduated with a B.A. in Animal Husbandry from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. Immediately following graduation he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army Reserves. He served at various military posts during his career including two tours in Vietnam earning him 3 Bronze Stars. He was also a professor of Military Science at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. After his military career, John went to work for the GBI as the Audit Program Manager for the GCIC Branch and retired after 30 years of service in January of 2003. John was a member of the Master Gardeners Club of Coweta County and also was an usher and Eucharist Minister at St. George Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Joan Secor of Newnan and his younger brother Eugene F. Secor (Martha) of Newnan; sister in law Nancy Frey (Duke) of Bermuda Dunes, CA; brother in law Allen Waidelich of Connecticut. John was blessed with special nieces and nephews: Chris Courter (Violeta) of Santee, CA. and their daughters Juliana & Gabriella, Karen Ulrich (Scott) of Carlsbad, CA and their daughters Alexis and Taylor, Brian Courter of San Diego, CA, Eugene Shannon Secor (fiancé Judy Richardson) of Newnan, John Kevin Secor (Stephanie) of Newnan and their sons Andrew and Alex, Shane Robert Secor (fiancé Valerie Culkin) of Phoenix, AZ, Katrina Secor Barman (Jerry) of Williamson, GA and their sons Cody Cribbs, Peyton Barman and Ethan Barman.
