John E. Henry was born May 1, 1926 in Seattle, WA to Mabel and Claude Henry.  John married Colene M. Jones on January 17, 1948.  Together, John and Colene had 7 children, John (Sharon) Henry of Panama, Central America; Craig (Aurora) Henry of Houston, TX; Bob (Jane) Henry of Nampa; Claudia (Brian) Davis of Nampa; Kathy Fritzemeier of Meridian; and Matt (Kim) Henry of Kenosha, WI.  Mom and Dad were also blessed with 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.  John was preceded in death by a son, Chad Henry, and son-in-law, Randy Fritzemeier.

Dad was very involved in the Professional Insurance Association and the Nampa Lions Club, where he was an enthusiastic “tail twister”.  Dad worked for Northwestern Mutual/Unigard Insurance Company and in 1975 he joined the Brandt Agency, that later became the Henry Insurance Agency.  Dad retired in 1990. He and Mom enjoyed their retirement traveling with the Good Sam Club, fishing in Alaska or wherever he could get his boat launched.  He loved to spend time in his duck blind on the Snake River, as well.  He made beautiful stained-glass lamps and loved doing special projects for friends and family.  Dad served in the U.S. Navy during WWII aboard the USS Bataan, CVL29.  Mom and Dad celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in January.  Dad had three loves: Jesus, his family, and his country.  Dad lived a healthy and independent life for all but the last 10 days of his 92 years.
