John Edward Lucas (born 11/1/1919) entered into the kingdom of heaven on August 6, 2013. He spent his last day with a good breakfast and a game of cards at home before the Lord called him to his reward. Born in Rush County, Indiana, John graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1939, the same year he married the love of his life, Wilma Haas, who preceded him in death in 2010.

He worked for Chevrolet in Muncie before taking a job with RCA in Marion, Indiana in 1949. After a brush with cancer, John felt the call of the Holy Spirit, and became deeply involved with the Lay Witness Missions of the United Methodist Church. His testimony and music touched many lives across the country. In 1981 he retired from RCA and began to split his time between Indiana and Texas. Since Wilmas passing, he has lived in Harlingen, Texas.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Artie Lucas, his sisters Lola Arnold, Marion Grove, and Jacobina Case, and his brother Birl Lucas.

Survivors include his children Michael (Bette) Lucas, Bloomington, IN; Diane (Ted) Bruch, Anderson, IN; and Cynthia Lucas, Georgetown, TX. He is also survived by his bother, Donald Lucas, niece Jane Arnold, special caregivers Blanca Salamon and Patricia Medina, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
