Details:  John E. Herr, Jr., 77, a resident of Pasadena for over 35 years and formerly of Rockville, MD, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2012 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. He was born in Greensburg, PA on November 22, 1934 to the late Mary and John E. Herr, Sr. Mr. Herr was a proud and loyal Marine, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1953 – 1980, and achieved the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant. He worked for the Department of Defense for 28 years, retiring in 1990. Mr. Herr was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, where he also served the Lake Shore Rotary. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge #398 Mystic Tie in Indianapolis, IN, and a 25 year member of the Scottish Rite, the Shriners. He enjoyed yard work, tinkering with cars, camping, and being the shark in the pool with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shirley Herr, his daughters Lisa Herr of Pasadena, Sharon White and her husband Michael of Eldersburg, and Jennifer Huber and her husband Byron of Glen Burnie; his sister Dorothy Miller of Greensburg, PA, and his grandchildren Jessica, Brandon and Taylor Huber, and Ashley and Stephanie White. Mr. Herr is preceded in death by his sister Mary Taylor.
