On June 10, 1944 he married Margaret Powers. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, John Donahue, Jr. and his wife Donnalee and Dale Bellantoni and her husband Anthony; his grandchildren, Jacqueline Love, Shamus Donahue, Allison Katsman, and Brian Bellantoni; and his great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Julia, Lauren, and Thomas Love, Tyler and Maya Katsman, and Declan Donahue.
