John H. Chutjian, age 71, of Milford, died peacefully Thursday, August 23, 2007, in the Arden House in Hamden. Born on May 14, 1936 to the late Martin and Angela Sivajian Chutjian in New York City he attended the University of New Hampshire and graduated in 1968 from the University of Michigan Dental School. That same year he opened his dental office in Milford where he practiced 32 years. Having served honorably in the US Air Force he continued his involvement in aviation by serving as the medical officer of the Civil Air Patrol, Northeast Region. An accomplished pilot for over 40 years, he enjoyed flying his family and friends for day trips to Nantucket and Martha’s Vinyard. In addition to being an avid photographer and gardner, he learned to swim at age 50 so he could become a certified scuba diver. His family and friends will remember him as a gentle, compassionate spirit who pursued his many interests with determination, enthusiasm and vigor. He is survived by his devoted wife, of 21 years, Martha Healey, loving children Keith Chutjian of New York, Michele Chutjian of East Haddam, step-sons John Nelson of New Haven and Galen Nelson of Boston, brother Ara Chutjian of La Crescenta, CA, granddaughters Marie, Arianna and Charlotte and two nieces.
